Vacation in Varna
Rightfully proclaimed Bulgaria’s sea capital, the city of Varna is the third largest city in Bulgaria and the largest city on the Black Sea Coast line. With a declared population of 357, 835, it is actually believed that including commuters and temporary residents, Varna has in fact become the second largest city in the country. Regardless of its standing, it is undoubtedly a major administrative, economic and historical hub- a key vacation destination, university centre, sea port and Navy Headquarters. Although a preferred vacation destination of its own, Varna has the advantage of being extremely close to many other nearby vacation spots.
The famous Golden Sands resort is only some 17 km. to the north and with a 3.5 km. beach strip, newly built, grandiose hotels and mountain backdrop setting, it is rightfully regarded as “the Pearl” of the Bulgarian Coast. Although a relatively small resort, St. St. Constantine and Helena (only some 8 km. to the north of Varna) is the oldest summer vacation destination and has beautiful parks with rare flora and vegetation and provides opportunities for quiet repose and holiday. The Sunny Day Complex is a 15 minute drive from the centre of Varna, nestled at the end of a picturesque, secluded bay with fine- grained sands. It is quite prominent for its extensive spa procedures and medical centers which treat a variety of disorders and ailments. Albena is the newest Bulgarian resort and offers exclusivity, class and luxurious hotel accommodations. With a shallow sea bed, a 7 km. long beach strip and azure waters, it is a Blue Flag winner and is ecologically clean, diverse and home to many plant and animal species.
